3.2. Response of the structure to the load

The maximum response of the air handling unit subjected to input spectrum load was

presented in the form of equivalent stress (Huber-Mises-Hencky) maps (Fig. 16)

and displacement maps (Fig. 18 and 19).

To determine the strength of the structure the maximal equivalent stresses were

compared with allowable stresses . Allowable stresses were calculated according to

the formula:

where: – yielding stress, – factor of safety.

Calculated allowable stresses for structural wall, frames and screws are presented in the
Table 2.
